Bob and Freda Narev Audio Interview Ruth Greenaway

Share

As children, both Bob and Freda survived the Holocaust in Germany and were brought out to New Zealand by relatives already living here.

In this audio interview they discuss their thoughts on identity; changing their names to fit in, learning to adapt and giving back to New Zealand society, always expressing much gratitude for all they have received. They have made a significant contribution to the Jewish community over the years – including twenty years service with the CAB, involvement with the Auckland Hebrew congregation and Jewish Youth Centre, the Home and Family counselling organisation, the Jewish senior outreach service and CORSO.  Bob has been made a New Zealand Notary and a member of the New Zealand Order of Merit, whilst Freda recently received a QSM.
